Ardbeg Corryvreckan

Aged: 10 years, bourbon cask married with French oak

Colour: very deep amber

Strength: 57.1%

Price bracket: around £60

Best for: soaking in the bath with after a hard day’s graft

Nose: deep, rich and complex, linseed oil, seaweed and sizzling bacon topped with menthol notes, hints of exotic warm spice and plenty of smoke

Taste: a strong salt and pepper hit gives way to black coffee and dark summer fruits

Verdict: delightfully creamy, lip-smackingly tasty and deceptively drinkable for 57.1%
