Dalmore 40 year old

Aged: 40 years, American oak and sherry cask mix

Colour: deep mahogany

Strength: 40%

Best for: sipping while coolly contemplating your millions

Nose: soft and endlessly fruity. Wide and full-bodied on the nose, hints of tropical fruit, orange marmalade

Taste: pure sumptuous delight, seriously long finish. Warm and rich with dark orange marmalade, toffee, chocolate and almonds. Almost syrupy as it goes down, but delectably so

Verdict: at around £1300 a bottle you could buy a secondhand Ford Ka for the same money, but it wouldn’t taste anywhere near as nice. An epic whisky with a price tag to match
